Puls8 Replan User Guide

Introduction

Organizations need to make different planning decisions based on the industry the company operates, product complexity and where the product is manufactured (internal or external).

Planners generally plan in four different planning horizons:

  • Strategic - Quarterly to Yearly for Y1 - Y3 - Influences the broader planning context such as Resource Planning by changing or adding production lines in the network or opening up new plants or warehouses.

  • Tactical - Weekly to Monthly for WK12 - WK52 - Window whereby decisions can influence specific goals and objectives such as Resource allocation (manpower, equipment), Production Planning, Inventory Optimisation.

  • Short Term - Combination of weekly and daily for WK2 to WK12 - Pre-manufacturing execution horizon whereby the plan is fine tuned prior to final execution by the factory. Typically fine tuning consists of ensuring that material suppliers supply materials in line with the plan, review and optimisation of production volume and inventory to support expected sales in the near future.

  • Execution - Daily to hourly for WK1 - Sequencing and release of production orders or movement of finished goods within the network to satisfy customer orders

The ultimate success of the Short and Execution horizon is heavily influenced by how well the Tactical horizon is managed. Puls8 Replan’s solution enables users to use data starting from the Strategic horizon all the way to the Execution horizon.

The uniqueness of SKU and Group Planning is a truly transformational planning approach, designed to simplify data so users can quickly identify and manage capacity, resource and many other constraints.
